Dental Implants and Prostheses
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a device designed to create a stable, resilient, effective, non-iatrogenic and durable anchor in the maxillary (upper jaw) or mandibular bone (lower jaw) to which a non-removable or fixed prosthesis can be attached, allowing replacement of a loose, devitalized or broken tooth.
The implant replaces a tooth root that collapses spontaneously after disease (granuloma, apical cyst, bone infection, etc.) or trauma (root fracture, etc.) or is extracted during dental surgery. The dental implant allows the patient to maintain normal chewing function, satisfactory dental comfort and optimum oral aesthetics.

dental prostheses
The dental prosthesis, a medical device used to repair a broken tooth or replace a missing tooth, is not a new innovation: Ancient Egyptian dentists had already begun to fit dentures secured with gold wires into their patients' mouths.
The field of dental prosthesis has witnessed many changes in the last 100 years, and real technological revolutions have occurred in the last decades for fixed prostheses and attached prostheses as well as maxillofacial prostheses.
